CONSTRUCTION OF “MEMORIAL COMPLEX TUTRAKAN EPIC 1916” AND ITS ADJACENT PUBLIC SPACES

Site “Military Tomb — 1916”, which is located in the municipality of Tutrakan is a monument of national importance. The memorial is a cemetery park of the dead warriors of different nationalities during the Tutrakan epic in 1916 with memorial slabs and obelisk. Since 2012 the municipality and the museum, who manage it, are making efforts to expand and enrich the site, improving in an innovative way the exposure of an extremely important and not particularly familiar part of the history of Bulgaria. The focus of the project is one until recently seen historical period — the wars for the national unification of Bulgaria. The main historical episode that will be advocated is the Battle of Tutrakan, the so-called Tutrakan epic. The project includes the construction and furnishing of the building — the purchase of equipment such as projectors, interactive tables and computer visualisation, servers, as well as the adjacent hardware peripherals. Creation in Tutrakan Memorial of multimedia diorama — a high technological cylindrical hall with a diameter of 18 meters and a height of 5 meters, equipped with a modular video wall with an area of about 560 sq. m. of monitors and holographic projectors — diorama; A 3D map of combat activities and an internet-based information system with information about the common history, which will also be the central tourist attraction of the memorial. Within the integrated tourist product there will be a combined ticket for visiting all sites managed by the Historical Museum — Tutrakan. The realisation of the project will create a comprehensive integrated tourism product that will offer services to both random tourists and organised groups and tour operators. The product will provide attractions both in the modern exhibition and on the terrain in the surroundings. It is envisaged to improve the tourist infrastructure, which in modern times includes the new technologies — virtual exhibits integrated with classical infrastructure of the familiar museums in Bulgaria.
