Practical implementation of infection control activities in the inpatient care facilities of the Hungarian Defence Forces Health Centre Hévíz I and II and Balatonfüred

The Hungarian Defence Forces Health Centre (hereinafter referred to as: MH EK) is a public inpatient healthcare provider, suitable and authorised to carry out activities for the purposes of the project, in accordance with the provisions of its founding document. The material, human and organisational conditions required for the tasks undertaken in the project are provided, and the planned equipment will be procured and disposed of. The aim of the project is to develop an infection control programme and an action plan against infection control at MH’s site I (8380 Hévíz, Ady Endre út 31), Hévíz site II (8380 Hévíz, Kossuth Lajos utca 7/A.) and Balatonfüred (8230 Balatonfüred, Szabadság utca 5.) to develop infection control practices that can be achieved by adapting to local conditions and takes into account available resources and public health needs. To this end, the preventive activities of the institution have been reviewed along the issues of the WHO’s self-assessment framework for the key elements of infection control and the key processes to be improved have been identified in order to achieve the objective. The implementation of the project will help to strengthen staff’s commitment to prevention by identifying problems and supporting practical implementation. The infection control experts of the institution are involved in the implementation of the infection control programme, infection control correspondents and quality experts appointed in the supply departments at the sites of MH EK Hévízi I, Hévíz II and Balatonfüred. The operational management of the strengthening of infection control is carried out by the Institute’s Infection Control and Antibiotic Committee through the operational tasks of the Hospital Hygiene Unit. A certified quality management system is in place in the institute. The MH EC ensures compliance with the maintenance obligation, for a period of 5 years after the completion of the project, access to the equipment and equipment procured in the framework of the project during the maintenance period, it uses them exclusively for the provision of publicly funded supplies. It maintains the operation of the planned care packages, the activities and education undertaken in the development of the hand hygiene programme. It undertakes to maintain the individual risk rating system, the so-called ‘infection control contact’ system, and the Survaillance system, as well as the information material produced in the project, until the end of the maintenance period. Following the implementation of the project, the conditions will be met in the MH EC for the application of a multimodal strategy in the area of infection control, the development of key processes through their regulation and the use of itners supporting implementation: education, application of supply packages, monitoring, auditing and compliace testing. Audit and compliance audits supporting the continuous development and maintenance of key infection control processes and activities have been included in the existing quality system. Targeted information for the beneficiaries, relatives and visitors affected by the infection control situation (communication campaign) and training of the care professional staff will be carried out at the centrally organised training of the staff involved in the management supervision at the relevant inpatient care institute of the MH EC.
