The aim of the project of the Sopron School District Center is to provide access to education and training through the development of informal learning opportunities, to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of public education, to develop extracurricular programmes complementing and matching school education, especially to the development of basic and key competences, mental and physical health and experience pedagogy methods. At Sopron Széchenyi István High School, the conditions required for the extracurricular activities of the students are currently not available or need to be developed. Although the sprouts of initiatives supporting problem-solving thinking and creative skills, environmentally conscious behaviour, mental and physical health, conflict management, local community development, community cooperation and innovation are visible, significant improvements are needed in order to involve the students of the High School more widely and to cooperate with students from cooperating institutions. The aim of the project is to provide access to education and training through the development of informal and non-formal learning opportunities, and to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the teaching work at Sopron High School. The project implements the development of extracurricular programs complementing and matching school education, especially the development of basic and key competences, the theoretical and practical application of mental health knowledge, the introduction of art therapy tools to support conflict management and personality development. The “Széchenyi Media Circle” is a form of collaboration between students and teachers in which two media products in ‘symbiosis’ are implemented at school through project methods and non-formal learning activities: the school newspaper and the school TV. Both media specialisations bring together students and teachers involved, and although there are fundamental differences in the operation and nature of the printed and electronic press, the aim will be the same: to give students the opportunity to try, hone and exploit their talents, develop their skills in the labour market, develop community development and model “real” life. In the course of the Drug Prevention Program series, children acquire basic knowledge about the dangers of drugs, an alternative to spending time usefully, the ability to say “no”, the ability to choose freely, and to behave in health. The tasks assigned to students not only increase the lexical knowledge that can be gained about drugs, but also develop the skills of creativity, thinking together, identifying problems and solving them. Within the framework of the ‘Conflict Management, Mediation’, students are engaged in recognising their own and the other party’s emotional and mental state; preventing and avoiding situations of high risk of aggressive behaviour, effective/possible ways of dealing with conflict situations. In the “Playing Health Workshop” the school’s pupils reshape the physical and mental characteristics of adolescence in a joint game program. Largely in an informal form and using the strength of the improvised game. It is essential to help students to manifest themselves more freely, to develop their sense of democracy and to develop appropriate coping strategies to overcome their everyday conflicts. The “Széchenyi Discovering Club” talent-providing program series covers a wide range of cultural and scientific fields, so the participating students can taste and try themselves in several fields. Colleagues holding the professions can “discover” talents (talent identification, talent recognition) before entering the high school. The main objective of the “Biology” field is to maintain students’ interest in nature. Educating students who are open to the natural environment around them, recognise the problems that can be observed there, look for the causes of the phenomena, draw conclusions from experienced facts, be able to formulate questions, and find answers to the questions raised according to their age. The “History Talent Career” is an activity organised for young people (self-training circle, creative team) interested in the history subject (self-training circle, creative team) who are interested in the subject of history (contesting, guided tours and contemporary guided tours, scientific papers and competitions). The aim of the “group sessions with experience pedagogical tools” is to bring students closer to play, awareness, and to themselves. Experience pedagogy, i.e. learning through experiential means, is the basic pillar of the field of study. Throughout the process, the game is at the centre of the game, which can gradually become a major challenge in line with the goal previously set by the group.
