The University of Szeged, together with the Gál Ferenc College, is submitting a proposal for a complex institution and service development project entitled “Innovative development of the educational and service performance of the University of Szeged in preparation for the challenges of labour market and international competition” in a consortium called EFOP-3.4.3-16. With the implementation of the project, the joint general objective of the consortium partners is to develop the training capacities and infrastructure of higher education in the Southern Great Plain region during the 48-month development, to increase the proportion of graduates in a sustainable manner, and to strengthen research, technological development and innovation through the implementation of interdependent thematic developments by enhancing the performance of the Hungarian higher education system and improving its accessibility. The project will be implemented through seven sub-projects, which are thematically synchronised with the call. Institutional developments in five priority areas of training (medical, health, MTMI, economics, agriculture and pedagogical training) have been identified in the sub-projects, whose innovation developments focus on the creation of a system in which both students, lecturers and participating institutions can respond to labour market challenges and international competition with outstanding performance. Under the “AP1 Student Graduate Services sub-project”, interventions to increase direct participation and retention in higher education are implemented in three thematic sub-programmes: in the course of (1) measurements prior to early drop-out, complex competency measurements are carried out, which underpin (2) direct anti-earning activities, the implementation and provision of support services in the form of trainings. The programme will also focus on the implementation of (3) science-related measures at institutional level, which increases the chances of graduation among those at risk of dropping out, disadvantaged people, people from disadvantaged areas and people with disabilities. Within the framework of the “AP2 Complex Training and Service Development” complex education innovation and service development, institutional training is transformed and developed in line with the new JRCs and the requirements of the learning outcomes approach. In addition to the skills and practice orientation, the transformation of the skills-oriented curricula, the integration of economic needs and the development of digital skills, the training of trainers in the field of learning outcomes-based methodology and practice, as well as training, organisation and curriculum development activities are carried out in Hungarian and foreign languages. In the framework of the ‘AP3 Internationalisation’, the development of services for university citizens and the development of new membership and cooperation with international organisations (U-Multirank accession) and the ‘university brand’ will be developed and “redefined” taking into account the specificities of the field of science: the new SZTE image will also be created by supporting market analysis. Within the framework of the “AP4 Carpathian Basin Education Space — Subotica”, the aim is to develop central coordination in relation to the Carpathian Basin education space, to maintain existing institutional, sectoral and market links and to build new ones, and to prepare the development of own and joint training programmes with higher education institutions located in the Carpathian Basin, taking into account the specificities of the field of study and science. In line with the “AP5 SZTE O3 strategy”, it targeted the institutional IFT, the renewal of distance and non-classroom education, the development of electronic notes and the connection to a new international online education platform, involving all institutional training and service areas. “AP6 Health Education” contributes to increasing everyday sport activity among students through selected sport and health education programmes by developing existing sports services and introducing new sports services, recreational and competitive sport events and competition events. The priority of the sub-project is to involve top athletes and volunteers and to provide sports professional support for new and existing student sport and health education services by performing effective communication and information service development tasks. In the framework of the ‘AP7 Teacher-Researcher Performance Assessment System’, the foreign language training of teaching and non-educational staff, the development of career models for non-educating workers, the organisation of training, retraining and upskilling programmes for workers and the promotion of equal access to them, and programmes aimed at promoting the active participation of students in society, are carried out in relation to all professional activity groups.
