Knowledge — The University of Miskolc is waiting for you! Implementation of skills development and communication programmes for higher education and promotion of MTMI in higher education

The main objective of the development is: increasing the level of higher education qualifications, increasing access to tertiary education, thereby increasing tertiary education levels, improving the educational level of young people from a disadvantaged geographical, social and economic situation and facilitating their access to tertiary education, especially in the fields currently under-represented by them, as well as increasing the application for MTMI.The project will help you to enter higher education and, in particular, to the University of Miskolc, in particular, mathematical, promoting science, IT and technical disciplines in public education, supporting young people in need of assistance, disadvantaged people, ensuring that future workers are successful and meeting the challenges of the labour market. It creates synergy between general guidance in public education and higher education interventions. It works by enabling target groups to be informed through multiple sources and forums, as well as through talent management, it improves the chances of young people living in the districts to be developed with complex programmes to enter higher education. According to the statistical statements, targeted intervention, career guidance activities embedded in the pedagogical process and specific enrolment activities starting from the 6-12nd year are essential. It is important to achieve the objectives set out in the project as widely as possible and to ensure its sustainability. The justification of the project is supported by all the economic, legal and social aspects outlined above. The aim of the project is to promote career guidance and mathematical, scientific, IT and technical disciplines in higher education, as well as to increase the level of higher education qualifications, to increase access to higher education, to improve the educational level of young people from a disadvantaged geographical, social and economic situation and to promote their access to higher education. The main institutional objective of this application is to train professionals with qualifications that meet the needs of the local economy in the region of North Hungary with multiple disadvantages, in line with our Institutional Development Plan. On the one hand, we need to reduce the proportion of early school leavers and organise pre-training courses for the 11-18 year olds to help them enter higher education in order to reduce the drop-outs — and the resulting drop-outs. In addition to quality improvements, our goal is to develop disadvantaged areas in the North Hungary region and to support the preparation and access of disadvantaged young people to higher education. It is undisputed that, in terms of demographic trends and the composition of the country’s regions by age group, the number of 11-18 year olds is the highest in the regions with the most disadvantaged characteristics, such as in Northern Hungary, which means that the chances of catching up of the higher-ranking age group — affected by the application — are influenced by adverse social and economic factors. These disadvantages are also influenced by the spatial structure of higher education, therefore we focus on the primary schooling base of the University of Miskolc, the affected age group of the region of North Hungary. Among our application objectives, we want to create the right coherence between the economic structure, social structure and labour market needs of the region. Taking into account the sectoral structure of the region and the needs of the labour market, we intend to increase the proportion of applicants for mathematical, scientific, technical and IT courses, for which the traditional technical roots of the University of Miskolc and the training range of our technical faculties provide an appropriate basis.
