Eötvös Loránd University, one of Hungary’s most traditional and most popular higher education institutions, is the Hungarian university with the best results in international rankings, where tradition and innovation go hand in hand. The planned project proposal will be implemented in Szombathely. The Savaria University Center in Szombathely will join the Eötvös Loránd University from the beginning of next year, its faculties can continue to function as the faculties of ELTE in Szombathely, which is the starting point of the proposed project proposal. Eötvös Loránd University considers it a mission that this legendary Sabbath institution is able to revive in a different context. Thus, with the involvement of its two departments, the Faculty of Informatics and the Faculty of Natural Sciences, he plans to launch IT courses and related R & D activities at the Savaria University Centre by formulating a complex project proposal. Furthermore, it plans to channel significant research activities to Szombathely, where significant international dimensions can be expected, by creating an asset background for astrophysical research activities. The activities of the project include the launch of the basic IT training in Szombathely, as well as the linking of IT and mechanical research at the ELTE Campus in Szombathely. It plans to implement it as necessary activities, to create staff and infrastructure conditions for educational and R & D activities, and to prepare the teaching staff for education. Starting and developing basic IT education. And the coordination of education research between the campuses in softman and Szombathely. By implementing the project, the integration of education and R & D & I activities into the regional industrial development objectives will be strengthened at Campus in Szombathely. The close cooperation within the Faculty of Informatics for the training of Mechanical Engineering and Technical Manager in Szombathely and ELTE IT is mutually beneficial and can improve the competitiveness of the University to a much greater extent. In addition, within the framework of the sub-project, which is another strand of the project, it plans to create the necessary capacity for the ELTE Savaria University Centre, together with the supervising faculties of Informatics and Natural Sciences, to participate in the European Space Agency (hereinafter: ESA) in space astronomy projects. Hungary has joined ESA to allow the University not only to participate in ground observation projects, but also to use data from space observatories in the future. In order to achieve the planned objectives, it is essential that, based on the engineering background available at the Savaria University Centre, in the coming years it is necessary to create the capability to participate in ESA space missions projects by developing hardware. The laboratory created under the project is mainly the “clean room” and the related instruments, which will be procured modularly, significantly increase the research infrastructure and the knowledge capital of Szombathely. A laboratory background for research will be created to successfully participate in European-level projects and high-tech industrial developments. Creating the prerequisites by training a “specialist” guard with technology. Connecting researchers from the University with specialists involved in industrial development in and around Szombathely. And education will be introduced, a new direction for the education of highly qualified professionals familiar with technology. In addition to the engineers of the Szombathely campus, the Astrophysics Research Group of the Institute of Physics of ELTE will participate in the implementation of the project. This Research Group is a nationwide unique success. They are currently involved in several international astrophysics projects and have been invited to space astronomy observation projects. In doing so, the project contributes to the advancement of ELTE in the international ranking and the project significantly increases the attractiveness of the Campus in Szombathely among potential university students. It makes the planned developments unique, including the fact that new R & D capacity will be created that can be used not only in space technology but also in high-tech industrial developments around Szombathely. The size of the planned project is HUF 360 million, it expects a significant purchase of equipment, part of ELTE’s strategic offer building policy, which moves towards innovative, competitive teaching and research areas in the case of the Savária University Centre involved in integration and development. It also helps to ensure the long-term sustainability of the university course in Szombathely, by eliminating the fragmentation of the institutional system and by sharing the research and teaching competences of ELTE.
