The aim of this project is to contribute to the development of the Hungarian pharmaceutical sector by a consortium of the University of Pécs, the University of Szeged and the University of Debrecen, as well as the Semmelweis University, the National Institute of Pharmaceutical and Food Health and the European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network (ECRIN), increasing the revenues from non-sponsored clinical trials in the national economy and health sector, improving Hungary’s competitiveness and participation in international pharmaceutical research. The main objective of the project is to encourage domestic research, to initiate studies, to facilitate the participation of Hungarian research in international multicentre studies, to better coordinate non-sponsored human clinical trials. In the context of the application, the joint research work of the research teams of the three universities will be carried out through a genuine network of 9 thematic themes. After the adaptation of international models and the establishment of the Hungarian “Clinical Trial Unit” and/or “Institutional Coordination Centre” network, the members of the consortium and the cooperating partners will be able to develop and operate multi-dimensional and extensive real research networks and internationalise the resulting research results with the help of the ECRIN network, as well as to gain participation in and implement the multi-centre academic research initiatives of other Member States. Our application is divided into the following sub-projects: • Research and development pilot projects • Use of health insurance and clinical real-world data assets • Training, research career development • Organizational development Research and development pilot projects: In the context of the application, a group of more than 50 researchers from 3 universities, organised into a genuine network of 9 thematically designated themes, will carry out joint and significantly overlapping research work. Utilisation of health insurance and clinical real-world data assets: Within the framework of the project research component, database analyses related to the fundamental research areas of the project will be carried out. For students and researchers participating in the project, we organise participation in further training abroad, where they take part in short courses related to database management. In order to strengthen the international embedding of Hungarian staff, we invite foreign guest lecturers and researchers to cooperate in Hungary. The research results of this project component support the local research and strategic planning processes of clinics as well as health policy decisions related to clinics. Training, career development: Thematic development of the professional training and further training of colleagues who play a decisive role in the conduct of human clinical trials, and the involvement of the necessary resources for carrying out the necessary curriculum development tasks. The trainings ensure that the tests of high professional standards are carried out. In addition to those involved in the studies, the professional preparation and training of young researchers is a priority to enable them to participate in the studies and to prepare for the fully independent and successful work expected in ECRIN projects. Be able to launch independent investigator-initiated studies. Organizational development: In connection with the successful conduct of clinical research, the aim is to strengthen research management and to develop organizational cooperation between consortium partners. Another task is to develop the “Clinical Trial Unit” and/or the “Institutional Coordination Centre” and to involve resources to prepare the preparation of the studies to speed up clinical implementation tasks. International exchange of experiences and mobility programmes involving ECRIN European Research Infrastructure Member States will be provided to the organisations participating in the Consortium. Provide opportunities for the creation of multinational projects, involving young researchers. Expected results: • Number of new participants in research support programmes: 50 people • Number of young researchers involved in the project: 17 people • Young researchers participating in the project who are awarded a formal “level step” or international award: 4 persons • Number of Hungarian and international scientific conference lectures supported: 80 persons • The number of Hungarian higher education institutions — foreign higher education institutions, research organisations cooperations — newly developed or added with new research cooperation content: 5 • number of visiting academic researchers from EU/EEA Member States and Carpathian Basin: 50 people • Number of potential Horizon 2020 co-operating partners achieved during the project: Number of participants in research management and research skills training courses and training courses for R & D &...
