HIGHER EDUCATION INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT AT THE ELTE SAVARIA UNIVERSITY CENTRE TO STRENGTHEN UNIVERSITY INTEGRATION

On 1 February 2017, the Savaria University Center will continue its activities as part of the Eötvös Loránd University. In many cases, the technical condition of the campus buildings in Szombathely does not meet age requirements. In the present tender, we are preparing for increased demand due to the increase in the take-up due to integration, with the modernisation of the most necessary elements of the infrastructure. This project includes the replacement and refurbishment of large electrical equipment on campus so that the use generated by other pproject elements (server room, increase in the number of computers) does not cause power outages or electric fires. The next important element is the renovation of the sanitary facilities in the central building “A” of campus. The current situation is not suitable for a modern higher education institution, nor can ELTE provide quality. In the campus A,B,C and D, the integration is due to restructure the use of classrooms and the need for infrastructure. With the help of the tender, we wish to renovate 20 classrooms (8 small and 12 larger) and equip them with modern ICT tools. A very important element of the renovation process is the renewal and modernisation of the grand rapporteur of Building C. The Great Speaker is the largest such room on campus, which, in its current state, is not suitable for modern, modern lectures, it is in the state of 30 years ago. It is necessary to completely renew mechanical engineering, benches and educational technology tools. This speaker serves a large number of lectures in natural sciences, IT and mechanical engineering, which, by their very nature, require more modern technical equipment. The data transmission network of Szombathely buildings is outdated and in poor technical condition. Wireless access is limited, not centrally managed. These technical shortcomings hinder the development of technical and professional conditions for integration. In this project component we plan to develop a structured network capable of gigabit transmission in all campus buildings (A,B,C,D) with a total of 1160 endpoints. The speed of the network allows for uncompromising data transmission for high bandwidth applications (e.g. engineering modeling or multimedia content). A single, centrally managed, hierarchically organised, gigabit transmission device and a 10 Gbps gateway are used to operate the network. The functionality of the active elements ensures continuous monitoring of network traffic, proper organisation of logical topology and the ability to intervene in case of network disturbances and possible overloads. The edgeband tool is also capable of creating virtual networks (VpON and MPLS) used in high-speed connections. As part of the project, the installation of the cable reception facilities and the installation of the active elements will also be carried out in 10 rooms in total. The establishment of the WiFi network, which is the mandatory element of the application, concerns all buildings (i.e. colleges). We plan to build a total of 101 access points with a capacity of 54 Mbs, which means covering the entire institution and serving a total of 8,000 competing users. The system can be managed centrally and fits into the current WiFi network of ELTE and the international Eduroam FederationLarge capacity educational and research computer cluster design The sciences of natural sciences, IT and engineering require both high storage capacity and high computing speed IT background. Due to the different use profile and therefore different technical characteristics, these assets should be treated separately from the equipment serving the institution’s core operations. The technical parameters (consumption, climate demand) of the system require the provision of suitable positioning, the construction of high current, air-conditioning and safety technical elements. One of the most dynamically developing elements of the training courses in Szombathely is the training port film related to sport and health promotion. Their further development and expansion makes it essential to expand and renovate the sports yard and the sports hall. The design and development of student spaces is a necessary response to legitimate student needs, as well as child-friendly solutions and the design of the baby-mama room. Campus assets are largely outdated. It is necessary to develop this in terms of both artworks and ICT tools, which has been made necessary by the increase in quantitative and qualitative requirements due to ELTE integration. With the help of the present course, we can make serious improvements in this area, which will have a positive impact on the quality of the training courses and the appearance of the campus. In our application we aim to develop the campus complex using the investment elements A and E.
