The project “Integrated metropolitan urban transport — Phase II” is an upgrade of the results achieved from the implementation of the project “Project for integrated urban transport” OPRG 2007-2013 and the projects and programmes implemented so far in the capital. This project will contribute to the improvement of the services provided to the city transport of the capital in line with the vision and priorities for the development of the city and the overall strategy for creating an integrated sustainable urban transport. The project consists essentially of the implementation of 4 main components identified in the feasibility study (PPP) and accompanying activities:1.Component 3 of PSP: Reconstruction of a tram track along Kamenodelska Street from the intersection with K.Stoilovci Blvd. to the final tram ear “Orlandovtsi”2.Component 5 of PSP:Reconstruction of a tram track along Tsar Boris III Blvd. — from Knyazhevo ear to the “Court Chamber” ear, without the sections of the square. “Russian Monument” and the junction of “Tsar Boris III” Blvd. and “G. Delchev” Blvd.:- Reconstruction of a tram track Part A: Blvd. “Tsar Boris” III from Sq. “Russian monument” to tram ear “Knyazhevo” — Reconstruction of tram track Part B: Macedonia Blvd. and Alabin Street from Sq. “Russian monument” next to tram reversal ear “Judicial Palace”3.Component 6 of the ISP: Purchase of new low-floor articulated tramcars.4.Component 7 of the IFR: Building on the intelligent traffic management system and the existing real-time passenger information system. The components have been selected and developed after a detailed feasibility study of different options and cost-benefit analysis that have proven the relevance of this project, as well as sustainability of the results. The environmental aspects of the project have been taken into account and one of its main objectives is to contribute to environmental protection.
