SOLVO Biotechnology Zrt., the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Biological Research Centre in Szeged, BioTalentum Knowledge Development Ltd. and Biospir-2006. The consortium of Development and Consulting Ltd. won non-repayable EU funding in the call for proposals entitled “R & D Competitiveness and Excellence Cooperations”. Biotechnological research and development activities related to the pharmaceutical industry are carried out in the project entitled ‘Developing a Reagent and Service Package for the Absorption — Distribution — Metabolism — Elimination (ADME) of Pharmaceuticals’. One of the most critical phases of drug development is the so-called absorption — distribution — metabolism and excretion (ADME) studies, as this is the case for most drug candidates if they are not suitable for further development. Researchers will examine whether the intended drug molecule is absorbed and what organs it gets after absorption, how it is decomposed and how long it leaves the body. The so-called transporter proteins play a key role in these processes. In the framework of the tender, SOLVO Zrt., in cooperation with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, develops new, safer methods of drug development, which can be used to analyse the interaction of pharmaceutical molecules and transporter proteins more effectively and thus better understand the potential consequences of the interactions.
