The “House of Forest” Ecotourism Centre in Soproni Parkerdő has been consciously trying to present the exceptional natural and cultural values of Sopron Parkerdő to a wide range of visitors. Our ideas are motivated by the fact that young children, teenagers, young and old people, families and families can benefit from new, interesting programs at every new facility. An excellent location for the creation of the wildlife park is the area of the former Mucki border guard station, leading to a public asphalt road. The buildings of the barracks, except for the basics, have been demolished. The House of Forest, which presents the flora and fauna of the park forest in an interactive way, is accessible without barriers. Three buildings (on the site of former buildings) and the pen system, feeding-drinking system and a complete service road network are set up to serve the demonstration site: The main building “A” includes the buffet/reception, employer-room, boiler room function. The building has a terrace, which serves the buffet in part, and some of it can act as an external employer. The two parts of the building are connected by a neck, which is also the location of the main entrance and the “axis” of the wildlife park. We've marked the entrances with two gate motifs. In the axis of the main entrance there is a highlighted wooden bridge extending over the wild pens at a height and a half to keep the animals undisturbed. It is planned to present our huntable wild game species (Nater, Gím, Dáms deer, Muflon and Wild Pigs) as well as some small game species (pheasants) that live in the area. The bridge with a structure similar to that of the bridge closes the wooden bridge in the southeast direction above the wildlife park. Next to the main building, the social building “B” includes a dressing room on the ground floor, a management office and a veterinary room for staff. A petting zoo for young children is also connected to the building. All these functions are served by a “C” feed storage and machinery building. Canopy study path in Sopron Parkerdő The most well-known and most visited places of the intensive park forest are the second symbol of the city and its surroundings, where, in addition to the view from the lookout point to tourists, permanent exhibitions presenting the work of botanists connected to Sopron can be seen. In September 2016, the interactive hunting museum and forest buffet, bearing the name of Professor Tamás Kőhalmy, were opened in the immediate vicinity of the lookout tower. The training room at the lower level of the building is one of the centers of our forest school programs. With the construction of the educational path, there is a complex at the disposal of the visitors, which, with its beauty, natural and cultural values and offerings, is a unique centre of the park forest in the country. The canopy educational path shows the canopy level of the forest’s fauna, an unprecedented layer of forest life. In addition to the direct view, you can also find information about educational boards on the educational path. The starting point of the educational path was the rest in front of the Károly lookout, or the terrace of the buffet as a variant. The intermediate break point of the educational path will be a lookout point from Charles high to Dalos Hill, where a small observation tower would be built. The lookout tower is suitable for visitors to leave the facility on a staircase (e.g. in case of danger). In the case of the section between the resting and the intermediate lookout, the need for accessibility was also raised. From the intermediate point, the trail continues on the other side of the tourist path, where attention can be turned from the hilly leaf forest to low mountain pine forests with a small transition. From here, due to the terrain, we need to have staircases in place. For safety reasons, the trail is closed with another lookout tower where, in case of danger, it is possible to leave the facility with a spiral staircase. The length of the educational trail is 200 m and goes to Mount Dalos with two midway lookouts.
