Development of qualification criteria for tourist attractions

The basic aim of the project is to improve the service level of the Hungarian tourism offer and to create the conditions under which the quality of tourism services can be standardised. Ultimately, the aim is to give tourists predictable quality in both space and time, before purchasing the service, entering the attraction area and even planning their journeys, they are aware of the quality of service they will receive (basic or increased needs) and what conditions they expect (e.g. whether they will be a service that is suitable for children). This knowledge has a positive impact on their willingness to travel within Hungary. Rating and trade mark systems are the means of guiding the creation of constant and predictable quality on both the demand and supply side. On the demand side, they provide guests with information when making their travel decisions about what they can expect for each service, and on the supply side helps service providers to provide quality services that meet the needs of the guests and thereby increase their ability to generate income. In the framework of this project, the screening of this guidance tool, the review of the related international practice, the review of the regulators, the creation of specific rating systems and trademarks (renewing existing ones, constructing new ones), planning the later operation of the system will be carried out in order to ensure consistent quality standards in time and space. The following activities will be carried out under the project, which are described in detail in section 4.2 of the feasibility study: 1. Analysis of current tourism rating systems, identification of shortage areas 2. Comparison of national and international tourism certification systems 3. Collection of international and domestic good practices, examination of their adaptation possibilities 4. As part of the international outlook on qualification and trade mark systems, the related practice of V4 countries should be examined 5. Comparative analysis of Hungary’s neighbouring countries and Hungary’s tourism certification and trademark systems 6. To assess the international terminology related to tourism products and their certification and trademark systems, to standardise their use in Hungary and, if necessary, to localise them. 7. Exploration of the regulatory environment of certification systems, assessment of the regulatory environment affecting its operational conditions, preparation of an impact assessment and impact assessments aimed at preparing amendments to standards and legislation affecting the operating conditions and the service environment of the tourism products currently covered by the trademark 8. Carrying out field research to achieve quality standards 9. Development of the future certification system of tourist attractions and service providers. Integration of qualification criteria and requirements related to certain tourism rating systems and trademark types into a single system and the development and implementation of a system of monitoring of certification systems and trademark specifications 10. Concept of operation of qualification and trade mark systems (determination of subject and personal conditions) 11. Mapping the current qualification level of tourist attractions and service providers, defining a development programme of at least 2 years, and compiling aids. We plan to create a supportive software environment for the introduction and monitoring of renewed and newly created certification and trademark systems. In order to maintain the results of the project and, more specifically, to be successful in putting them into practice, it is important that tourism operators accept the results and are willing to apply them. To this end, 72 information events will be organised within the framework of the project, in different rural locations throughout the country. At these awareness-raising events, the positive impact on the market of transparent, consistent quality rating systems and trademarks, the general presentation of the systems and the specific qualification and trademark systems developed by product and topic will be presented. Of course, marketing promotions to raise awareness of certification and trademark systems will also be carried out in connection with the project. In view of the themes of the planned project, it is essential that the relevant partners are involved during the implementation. This is also true for the design of rating systems and the implementation of results, since in the long term it is important that rating and trademark systems are accepted by the profession. We consider the Hungarian Tourism Association, its member organisations, tourist service providers, Tourinform agencies, travel agencies as important cooperating partners. As a result of the project, the Hungarian turis will be renewed according to our plans
