Szeged-Hódmezővásárhely tram-train system — vehicle purchase

The aim of the development is to develop public transport between Hódmezővásárhely and Szeged, thereby creating an attractive and safe alternative to individual car traffic, which can lead to a negative trend in the proportion of users of public transport and passenger cars, and an increase in the number of passengers travelling in public transport. The aim of the project is to connect the city centre of Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely directly on track. The investment is based on the upgrading of the railway line in the absence of the project. The technical content of the development (together with project elements NIF Zrt and MÁV Zrt.) • Construction of a 1.5 km long single-track tramway from the tram stop Rókus pu. Szeged to railway line 135; • On railway line 135, the extension of the capacity required for the rail-tram connection with the construction of second tracks (2 locations, a total length of approximately 8 km); • Construction of a new 3.3 km long single-track tram line from Népkert station in Hódmezővásárhely with two traffic stops, 3 stops. On the tramway of Hódmezővásárhely the overhead contact line, the new power supply in Hódmezővásárhely. Installation of comfortable and accessible tram stops with application and environmental planning; • The construction of a vehicle site, together with the purchase of technical equipment (e.g. underfloor wheel lathes); • Purchase of a tram-train tram-train vehicle with diesel-electric (hybrid) (8pcs + 4pcs option drawdown) Improve the level of service The railway-electric service will be available between Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely Main Station, its route: Szeged Main Station — tram line 1 Rókus pu. — Szeged-Rókus elág., on railway line no. 135 Algyő — Hódmezővásárhelyi Népkert — tram line from Hódmezővásárhely — Great Station terminal; As a basic service, flights will follow each other every 20 minutes during peak periods, every 30 minutes in addition, and every 60 minutes late in the evening. In the morning, between 6:20 and 7:10 from Hódmezővásárhely to Szeged, there will be a 10-minute follow-up, which may be necessary due to the volume of passenger traffic (in addition to the purchase of vehicles with additional option). The journey time between two terminals will be 42 minutes, between the two city centers 32 minutes. Project elements under the MÁV-START Zrt project Development of rolling stock The 8 new hybrid tram-train vehicles must be purchased for the operation of the service. The vehicles will be the Swiss Stadler Group’s CITYLINK Diesel-Tram-train vehicles, with a single class 2 continuous, single-space, clear and non-smoking passenger compartment design, taking into account 35 years’ service life and ensuring synchronous operation of at least two trains. The three-part hybrid tram-train is equipped with 1 multifunctional space in the extreme units of the three-part hybrid tram-train, which offers the possibility to accommodate 2 disabled (wheelchair) passengers or 4 bicycles per space. The main technical parameters of the vehicle are as follows: • 37 200 mm overall length, 2 650 mm maximum width and 3 990 mm maximum height (with lowered pantograph); • 91 full seats, with a total of 198 persons + 4 persons in wheelchairs; • Diesel-electric hybrid and 600 V DC drive; • Environmental classification of built-in diesel engines (2x390 kW): Stage IIIB according to Regulation (EC) No 26/2004; • 100 km/h authorised speed (high rail), high accelerator and deceleration capability; • Two-way, unobstructed design, 4 electrically operated, power-operated sliding sliding doors per vehicle side; • Air-conditioned, mostly low-floor passenger compartment, bicycle and wheelchair transport, video camera passenger compartment monitoring system, GPS-controlled voice and visual passenger information equipment, WLAN on-board (WIFI) system for access to the internet for the travelling public; • The vehicle complies with EN 12663-1 with regard to locking strength. Category of vehicle according to EN 12663-1 P-III For passive safety, category C-III of the vehicle according to EN 15227; • Inlet height of embarkation spaces (spaces used in urban electric operation): not more than 410 mm above rail crown; moving stairs from the top plane of the rail also provides comfortable access from 300 mm platform heights. The height of the vehicle high floor above rail level shall not exceed 900 mm. Acquisition of under-floor lathes: in connection with the construction of the maintenance vehicle site, the underfloor wheel lathe equipment ensuring that tram-train vehicles carry out wheel and brake disc regulations without vehicle breakdown will be procured. The project includes the performance of public tasks in accordance with the communication strategy and action plan. MÁV-START Zrt. performs general project management tasks as its own activity, technical experts and acceptance tasks during the implementation of the project.
