“The charm of the Bodrog” — Networked water tourism development on the coast of Bodrog_x000D_

In response to the call “TOP — 1.2.1-15” entitled “Socially and environmentally sustainable tourism development”, the Municipality of Sárospatak will submit a proposal with several partners in a consortium aimed at the complex development of Bodrog’s water tourism and the promotion of kayak-canoe sport as a useful leisure activity. The project is closely linked to the GINOP 7.1.2 development with the development of Bodrog as a feeder network, in which the Hungarian Kayak Canoe Association develops the main network elements with a direct connection point in Tisza, Tokaj. The aim of the consortium tender submitted for the complex development of Bodrog’s water tourism is to motivate as many people as possible in their free time to walk the waters, to be more coached, healthier, and to learn about the historical, cultural and natural beauty of the Bodrog region, based on the popularity and social embedding of the kayak canoe. It is important to improve the relationship between the different walk modes (cycling, hiking canoe, rider, nature) through the development of stops, and to improve the ability to generate income from the enhancement of intermodality. The aim is to increase indirectly the number of overnight stays in the region by developing and connecting individual stops, as well as the number of “guest spending” and to increase the direct and indirect revenues from the provision of services. The programme is closely linked to the presentation of the cultural, historical and natural values available in the region. It is linked to the access to the Tokaj wine region and the route of the national KÉK circle. When designating the staging points, the leader of the consortium agreed with the local government of the given settlement, the tourism-relevant civil society organisations — TDM, associations, foundations. He consulted with the competent Aggtelek National Park on the indirect development of the nature conservation areas in the area. It visited companies active in the area with an interest in the water-touring segment. It was important that there should be an attractive tourist attraction close to the stops, which in itself could increase the number of visitors using the services of the stop. As a result of the tender, Bodrogi and domestic water tours can enter a new stage of development. Due to the existence of stops, accommodation providers and undertakings providing other services in the municipalities can obtain additional income. The proposal contributes indirectly to the catching-up of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County. In line with the objective of the call, development includes sites that are local, regionally important and not part of national or international networks. The consortium applies for a total of HUF 151 515 000. Within the framework of the tender, development activities are carried out in connection with 5 stops. In the structure and content of this business plan, it follows the requirements set out in the Guide for Applicants. The overall goals set out in the concept are in line with national goals and aim at the economic and social turnaround: — economic development that creates value, ensures employment, — a turn of population, a healthy and renewable society, — the sustainable use of our natural resources, the preservation of our values and the protection of our environment, — a sustainable spatial structure based on regional potentials. They have been identified as a territorial specific objective: — strengthening the country’s macro-regional role, — the urban network providing a polycentric spatial structure, — increasing the population retention capacity of rural areas, — developing areas of high regional value, — reducing territorial disparities, promoting regional convergence and economic promotion, — connected spaces: ensuring accessibility and mobility. In particular: The protection and sustainable use of natural resources and environmental values. Creating a more liveable environment, supporting regional cooperation, heritage protection. Within the framework of the development programme, a total of 7 infrastructural investments are carried out in 5 settlements, three of which are located in Sárospatak. The plans include infrastructure, service and asset development. Infrastructure development elements include the provision of comfort services for the participants on the water tour (covered communal spaces, the establishment of sanitary facilities as a priority) and the development of safe storage of ships. Venues of the programme: Felsőberecki, Sárospatak, Bodrogolasi, Olaszliska, Szegi. For one of the seven implementation sites included in the application (Sárospatak, topographical number: 3647) it is necessary to draw up an energy certificate, which has been attached. It’s not relevant for the other locations. According to point 3.2.3(e) of the call for proposals, this project does not have a foreseeable climate risk.
