The aid application relates to the indicative allocation for the Nyírség tourist ring, Satu Mare-Beregi culture, Nyíri Mezőség tourist axis and Rétköz tourist axis as set out in point 1.2 of the Area-specific Annex to the call. The development of tourism in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County will take place in the coming years along an integrated development approach based on regional cooperation. The development of tourism networks can be found in several domestic development documents in the 2014-2020 programming period and the TOP programme considers it a priority objective. The project entitled ‘Integrated development of the tourist offer of Szatmár-bereg — Development of heritage and active tourism networks and product packages in the Upper Tisza region’ aims to create an independent tourism product package. Satu Mare-Bereg, as a tourist destination, can be considered a territoriality, and the wide-ranging cooperation is ensured by a consortium of 16 organisations, which creates the organisational condition for integrated destination development. The consortium included specifically those organisations that have the attractiveness and properties that are essential for the tourism product development of the destination. A total of 21 feasibility sites are being developed under the project. The development of attractiveness was designed to take into account the needs of the target group, and we carried out primary research to this end. The development clearly contributes to increasing the breeding mortality of tourists. The aim of the project is to develop integrated destination development in order to enable efficient resource allocation, the cooperation of regional actors can lead to the creation of complex tourism products, thus smaller settlements with valuable attractiveness can also receive resources. The aim of the project is to position the Satu Mare area as a single tourist destination, which can offer competitive tourism products based on unique conditions at national level. The objective of the Satu Mare Integrated Project is to promote the development of tourism products at complex regional level, by combining cultural, eco and active tourism, building on the region’s priority and unique cultural heritage sites, natural assets and facilities. The direct aim of the project is to increase the role of active tourism in tourism in the region, primarily by developing water and cycling tour networks, which would play a key role in exploring the cultural and natural heritage of the destination. Another goal is to increase the tourist attraction of the Tisza-side resort areas and the Tisza. Indirect objectives: Tourism in the Satu Mare-Beregi region can be an important catalyst for systematically exploiting comparative advantages and improving its competitiveness, but more importantly, it can act as a catalyst for the economic, social and environmental revitalisation of the region. Overall, the project focuses on the development of several large areas: • The development and exploitation of Satu Mare-Bereg’s cultural and intangible heritage for tourist purposes, revitalisation of sites of outstanding importance, renovation of poor but valuable monuments. • Developing the natural and cultural values of the region for visitors-friendly purposes, creating the conditions for experience-oriented heritage interpretation. • The development of a tour and attraction network for active hikers presenting the values of the region, and the creation of complex tourism product packages based on the unique features of the destination. • The integrated development of the Upper-Tisza waterway routes, the uniform development of the Old Tour as one of Hungary’s most exciting waterway routes. • Development of free beaches in order to increase the attractiveness of the Tisza coast. • Intensive promotion and positioning of the area on the market to boost tourist flows. • Strengthening tourism cooperation, developing the tourist values of the region, transforming it into a tourist product and communicating effectively in marketing. Presentation of self-eligible and ineligible activities The project is part of point D of the individual eligible activities of the TOP call for proposals entitled ‘Socially and environmentally sustainable tourism development’, which aims at the creation of tourism product packages and meets the criteria set out in points A-C. The project would be implemented with the cooperation of 16 consortium members.
