PROJECT OBJECTIVE: The aim of the project is to connect Pécs and Baranya county’s frequent tourist destination, Siklós, with a bicycle path, which contributes to increasing the county’s attractiveness to cycling tourism. The goal is to connect the chapel and the bell-foot monument ensemble with the Zsolnay pavement in Eszteragpustan to the tourist cycle path and make it visible. Another goal is to launch local economic recovery processes generated by tourism in the settlements explored by the tourist cycle path. TECHNICAL AND TECHNICAL CONTENT OF THE PROJECT: The 36 km long section of the tourist cycle path planned between Pécs and Siklós-Máriagyűd is established on public roads with signage and paint marking and the establishment of a bicycle path in the outskirts. 4 bicycle rest areas will be installed along the road. Rest areas will be equipped with a security system. In the settlements revealed by the cycle path, bicycle supports are installed in service places which are more important for cycling tourism. The poor road edges of the roads covered by the project will be refurbished in order to ensure safe cycling. The chapel and bell-foot building complex built near the axis of the hiking route, in the village of Eszterágpuszta Szalánta, is considered a curiosity with the tiles of Zsolna. The ability to attract tourists will increase by refurbishing buildings, creating their visibility and accessing them by means of a cycle path. In addition to intensive marketing activities, we intend to present the results of the development to the target audience at national level. Self-eligible activities 3.1.1(A)(a): The creation of the Eszteragpuszta building complex, the completion of the necessary renovations will be realised. Point 3.1.1(C)(a): A cycling route linked to the international cycling-tourism network and tourist attractions with the project will be established as described in the professional-technical content. Mandatory ineligible activities 3.1.2.1: a) with vibrant marketing activities, the tourist cycle path and the monument are put on the market together. b) the renovation of the building complex is planned and implemented according to the accessible regulations. e) the public insurance package with a content corresponding to the size of the project is implemented by the applicants. Optional, ineligible actions 3.1.2.2: a) property protection systems to be installed in cycling rests, as well as equipment to assist the presentation of the Eszteragpuszta building complex; information boards and bicycle supports are installed in frequent destinations of the tourist cycle path; F) restoration of Zsolnay facade cladding and building decorations; cycling rests are established in accordance with the relevant regulations; K) the purchase of road maintenance machines in order to ensure that the cycle path is usable; MEETING THE TECHNICAL-PROFESSIONAL CONTENT OF THE PROJECT AND ITS IMPLEMENTATION: The consortium formed for the submission and subsequent implementation of the aid application is a member of an organisation which is a member of the TDM organisation. Tourism experts are involved to develop the professional content of the project, and the consortium members promote the long-term sustainability of the development through professional cooperation. The result of the project will fully contribute to reducing seasonal fluctuations in tourism. A marketing strategy is being prepared during the project development period. The monument is presented in an innovative way, with more than 10 % of the cost of the project element being spent on the acquisition of demonstration assets and other intangible assets. Multilingual information board and brochure help inform visitors of the monumental ensemble. The technical design of the cycle path shall be carried out on the basis of the relevant technical road regulations. Bicycle supports are installed at major tourist destinations. Information boards help cyclists to inform cyclists in settlements and along the cycle path. The places of insurance of service packages and the provision of the specialist service providing services are defined during the project development. FULFILMENT OF SUBSTANTIVE ASSESSMENT CRITERIA: The development will help to prolong the stay of tourists locally and contribute to employment expansion. The project takes the form of a consortium and includes a number of independently eligible developments. It meets the technical requirements of the call and does not include ineligible activities. The professional competence of the project management is adequate and the organisational background is ensured for the implementation. The technical content of the project is professionally prepared, based on surveys. The cycle path is linked to already built tourist cycle paths and tourist destinations. By cycling, the project supports gentle tourism, which does not impair the burden-bearing capacity of the landscape and the environment.
