The action area is located in the central part of the city centre, structurally the sections of Széchenyi utca-Baross utca-Eötvös street and their immediate surroundings. In the part of the city there are several monuments and protected buildings. This is where the public buildings of the city are located. In the case of the downtown action area, the main goal is to develop a calmer tourist zone with reduced traffic, reduced traffic, with a larger green surface and pedestrian space system, while preserving the current rich community, administrative and human service functions, by strengthening the economic functions that need to be developed and renewed and by reducing the transport functions slightly and justifiably. In order to achieve the above objectives, the Municipality of Bük implemented the following activities in the city centre action area in the framework of the call for proposals entitled “Western Transdanubia Regional Operational Programme” (NYDOP — 1.1.2009/A) entitled “West Transdanubia Regional Operational Programme” (NYDOP — 1.1.2009/A): • Renovation and expansion of the town hall • Complete reconstruction of Eötvös Park • Establishment of an open-air event area in the courtyard of the Cultural House and building the necessary parking lots • The following main activities will be carried out in the framework of Phase II of the downtown renewal programme for the complex accessibility of the Cultural House and the construction of a catering unit with the extension of the house: • Reconstruction of Széchenyi Park • Building a thematic park and board system • Establishing a market area on the square in front of Kóczán House • Construction of the Hospitality Pajta • Renovation of pavement 28-42. Széchenyi street • Reconstruction of a luxurious line of green area exploratory road • Szoft elements It is important to emphasise that the above-mentioned developments can be built in close proximity to each other, practically physically connected locations. This results in a significant synergy effect for each other. As a result of the developments, the Bük downtown becomes the real centre of the settlement, which serves not only municipal but also touristic purposes. Bük does not currently have 314/2012. (XI. 8.) with the Integrated Urban Development Strategy (IVS) adopted in 2009 for a period of 10 years, the municipality undertakes to prepare it during the project development period, as the Integrated Urban Development Strategy (IVS) adopted in 2009 for a 10-year timeframe will continue to provide an adequate basis for the city’s thoughtful and planned development, which is not better demonstrated by the fact that the development presented in the present Action Area Plan is perfectly compatible with the objectives laid down in the IVS, and also establishes and supports the second phase of development of the downtown action area delimited in IVS. The planned developments relate to and promote the goals of the Vas County economic development sub-programme for tourism and KRAFT, while the settlement development sub-programme is business-friendly, population-retaining, urban-focused settlement development and environmentally sustainable tourism development goals. In the framework of the project, planting is carried out in a manner that is suitable for the environment, which is specifically designed to prevent and control soil erosion. The generated green waste is composted, rainwater is desiccated in the green area, water is not tap water, but ground water from drilled wells is used for irrigation. The planned barn building is based on the traditions of folk architecture in the region, as well as the small gardens that showcase a small-town, rural world. As part of the project, energy-saving public lighting is built, and the water demand of the green surfaces is also ensured from rainfall and drilled wells, so no tap water is used for irrigation. Information boards showing the living world of Répcemente serve to protect and show the environmental values. Bük is listed in the Vas County Values Library as a treasure evening of Répcemente, and Bükfürdő, so the planned development also fits into this. The area covered by the development will be realised on units classified as Vt, ZKK and KÖu according to the current settlement plan. The total eligible costs of the project and the aid applied for are HUF 100 000 000.
