The primary objective of the project is to realise the development of the community and to promote belonging to the local community and society. The project is aligned with the ultimate goal set out in the Methodological Guide, i.e. that everyone should belong somewhere and with someone, live in community and social embedding, have the chance to improve their own living conditions and be able to participate in joint action towards positive change. As a result of the interventions the members of the community develop their sense of responsibility towards each other, and the strengthening of local civil society helps to resolve local community conflicts and strengthen the capacity to act independently, to strengthen civic activity, to develop and strengthen the necessary competences, volunteering, local identity and attachment to settlements, parts of settlements and regions. The project is in line with the Local Equal Opportunities Programme for all municipalities participating in the consortium. The Local Equal Opportunities Programme 2013-2018 sets out the objective of improving the situation of target groups for equal opportunities and helping to overcome disadvantages in their daily lives. The most important goal of the municipalities is to ensure the well-being of the citizens living in the village, to continuously improve their quality of life, by operating a supportive environment that strengthens ties to the community and residence, local patriotism, social solidarity, and special attention if it is necessary to apply positive discrimination to vulnerable target groups. Awareness-raising and partnership-based measures will improve the chances of disadvantaged groups to catch up, their quality of life and the opportunity to manage their lives independently. For the sake of sustainable development, the task of the local government is to strengthen local identity and to develop the community.
