Development of the Intercisa Museum

The aim of the project is to modernise and use the Intercisa Museum for tourist purposes in accordance with the Integrated Urban Development Strategy of the City of Dunaújváros. Development will contribute to the diversification of the region’s economy in order to stimulate the local economy and increase employment, as well as to overwrite the current picture “Dunaújváros = Industrial City” and to transcode cultural and tourism. The Intercisa Museum has been operating at Dunaújváros, Town Hall Square No. 4 since 1970, and it preserves Hungary’s largest collection of Roman-era. The building is a defining element of the Town Hall Square, and enjoys local protection. The condition of the property is good from a structural point of view, it can be said to be used in terms of coverings and windows, the interiors are becoming less and less in line with the requirements of modern museum presentation, and in any case requires improvement. It is necessary to improve the sustainability of the building and its energy efficiency through modernisation. The development involves the replacement of doors and windows, electrical/electrical refurbishment, partial technical renovation and repairs related to renovations. The accessibility of the building is ensured by a hydraulically controlled lift at all levels and a ramp-step self-propelled equipment located in the central space. In addition to the renovation and accessibility of the building, the permanent exhibition of the museum is enriched with experience elements and interactive presentations. In our project we implement the following activities: 3.1.1 Self-eligible activities: A) tourist development of major cultural and heritage sites in the region (a) Development of existing attractiveness building on the cultural features of the region: Refurbishment, exhibition and exhibition spaces and multifunctional premises related to the tourist exploitation and presentation of cultural heritage; The creation of conditions for tourist reception, the establishment of reception spaces, the development and extension of visitor-friendly functions, and the establishment of the necessary service background for high-quality tourist reception; Technical developments, interactive presentation forms, which are elements of experience; Creating and developing weather independent or target group specific supply elements. 3.1.2.1 Compulsory non-eligible activities: a) marketing activity: business marketing and promotion related to the marketing of the developed tourist attractions b) accessibility — d) energy efficiency measures — modernisation capable of increasing energy efficiency, full replacement of doors and windows (e) publicity 3.1.2.2 Optional, ineligible activities that cannot be supported independently: according to point 3.2 of the call, the financing of the activities to be carried out does not constitute State aid within the meaning of Article 107(1) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. In accordance with point 3.4.1.3/2 of the call, the planned building energy renovation will only be supported within the framework of this call TOP-6.1.4-16, and will not be supported under call TOP-6.5.1 of the 2014-2020 programming period. The conditions for the reception of tourists in the head-renewed Intercisa Museum are improved: thanks to the more comfortable indoor environment and the experience elements, the attractiveness of the attraction increases, thus the museum contributes to the increase in the number of tourists visiting the area, to the extension of their stay and to increasing their spending. Due to its location, the Intercisa Museum plays a central role in the cultural and tourist life of Dunaújváros, its operation is realised in synergic connection with other existing tourist attractions and ongoing attraction developments (Dunai LIMES GINOP, development of a soccer educational path, the establishment of a Visitor Centre in the Mondbach mansion, the renovation of the Experience Bath, the development of the Aquantis Visitor Centre). The economic development impact expected from development is also directly reflected in the implementation of the project by providing additional revenues to local entrepreneurs and the local economy. The resulting higher quality of service increases the quality of life of the population, increases the city’s attractiveness and population retention, improving the economic competitiveness of the region.
