Dunaújváros basically carries the image of the industrial city, but in addition to industrial activity, the city places great emphasis on the presentation of its past, cultural life and the development of tourist opportunities. The development of the Aquantis Visitor Centre is a project running in parallel with the development of the Bath Hotel under the Modern Cities Program, partly preceding it. The two projects are located in the same building block, in the strategic location of the tourism of Dunaújváros, in the immediate vicinity of the city’s most attractive attraction (experience bath) — Builder Road 7/A (hrsz: 325/6) at the location of the current parking lot. During project development, implementation and operation, all the processes of the visitor centre and the hotel project (design, procurement, construction, etc.) are separated by phases. Functions of the Aquantis Visitor Centre with new construction: an interactive showground where visitors can experience the life of a Roman bath and the historical past of Dunaújváros; multifunctional premises (events; exhibition space) with related background areas (washes, offices); coffee shop and heating kitchen — which can serve even a larger number of people in the engraving of the spa and the hotel with a narrow supply. In our project we implement the following activities: 3.1.1 Self-eligible activities: A) Tourism development of major cultural and heritage sites in the region a) Development of existing attractiveness building on the cultural features of the region: Construction, exhibition and demonstration spaces and multifunctional premises related to the tourist exploitation and presentation of cultural heritage; The creation of conditions for tourist reception, the establishment of reception spaces, the development and extension of visitor-friendly functions, and the establishment of the necessary service background for high-quality tourist reception; Technical developments, interactive presentation forms, which are elements of experience; Creating and developing weather independent or target group specific supply elements. 3.1.2.1 Compulsory non-eligible activities: a) marketing activity: business marketing and promotion implementation related to the marketing of the developed tourist attractions b) accessibility — under the relevant conditions (d) energy efficiency measures — in accordance with Article 7/2006. (E) publicity in accordance with the provisions of Decree (V. 24.) of the Minister of Transport (F) (f) the construction of basic charging infrastructure for the use of electric vehicles in the environment of the investment 3.1.2.2 Optional, ineligible, ineligible activities: a) Acquisition of equipment related to the development of the tourist attraction b) Developing a competitive, innovative tourism theme based on the uniqueness of cultural attraction, creating the image of the resulting tourist product d) Development of the immediate environment of the attractions (parking, information boards, resting areas, service roads, car parks, bicycle parking lots, storage and support, infrastructure developments necessary to manage the access to and the parking position of the attractions, the infrastructure development necessary for the adaptation of transport organisation) According to point 3.2 of the call, the financing of the activities to be carried out does not constitute State aid within the meaning of Article 107(1) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. During the project, a new construction will be carried out, the planned activity does not involve any energy upgrading for an existing building, therefore point 3.4.3.1/2 of the call is not relevant for the planned project. In line with the Integrated Urban Development Strategy of the City of Dunaújváros, development contributes to the diversification of the region’s economy in order to stimulate the local economy and increase employment, as well as to overwrite the current picture “Dunaújváros = Industrial City” and to transcode cultural and tourism. The establishment of the Aquantis Visitors’ Centre improves the conditions for the reception of tourists in the city, thereby contributing to the increase in the number of tourists visiting the area, the extension of their stay and their spending. Due to its location, the Aquantis Visitor Centre plays a strategic role in the tourism life of Dunaújváros, its operation is realised in synergistic connection with other existing tourist attractions and ongoing attraction developments (Dunai LIMES GINOP, Intercisa Museum, Establishment of a Visitor Centre in Mondbach Mansion, Renovation of the Experience Bath). The economic development impact expected from development is also directly reflected in the implementation of the project by providing additional revenues to local entrepreneurs and the local economy.
