Reconstruction of the community spaces of the city centre and Dózsakert

The aim of the project is to make the city centre greener, more liveable, as well as to create a community space that can be used for the implementation of the events, to develop the transport infrastructure, to improve the connection between Dózsakert and Újváros in order to improve access to services and to provide better community functions. The action area — appearing in ITS — is the area bounded by Mozdony Street, Álmos För utca, Komáromi utca, Main Square (to St. Borbála Square), the road of the Republic, Dózsa György út, Dózsakert utca, Vadász utca — the delimited areas of the New Town and Dózsakert neighbourhoods. Within the framework of the project, the new city centre: the square in front of the county house (hrsz: 11204/40, 11204/39, 11203) and the surrounding area of the Main Square (hsz:11204/44, 11204/43, 11204/42, 11204/45, 11201, 11200, 11198/3, 11204/46) and the green surfaces of the district of Dózsakert designated as action areas (S walking street, Dózsakert utca, Erdész street; geographical area: 8204/14, 8117, 8024) are being renewed and the area of plant surfaces and habitats is increasing. The green surfaces will be reconstructed in the designated areas of Dózsakert. The green surface will be renewed on the Walking Street, a green community space will be created with the extension of resting functions; in the area of the planned pedestrian bridge — Erdész utca — Dózsakert utca, shading, climate-tolerant green surfaces will be created or renewed along the pedestrian routes, so the renewal of the green lane on the route from S walking street to Dózsakert Street and Erdész street connects the walking street with the core areas of the city centre. In the Dózsakerti part, energy-saving public lighting and electrical wiring are set up. In the surroundings of the Megyeháza Square and the Main Square, the vegetation of the parks is renewed, the sick plants are replaced, grass planting, new plants planting and flowering take place. The parks and the renewed areas are equipped with high-quality street furniture that fits the environment, the unhindered renewal of the existing promenades and pavements with water permeable covering, as well as the construction of necessary new trails and community spaces. Instead of the current surface car park in the square in front of the Megyeháza (11204/40), it is possible to use a car park with payment of a fee, providing more parking spaces than at present. By lowering these car parks below the space level, a new, pleasant atmosphere, barrier-free community space, city meeting point and event venue will be created on the surface with climate-friendly technological solutions and green surfaces. The new green area and the accessibility and interoperability of the public space will be ensured by the road surface to be developed from Komáromi út. For the direct utilisation of rainwater over the underground garage built on the square, cysts will be built from which the surrounding green surfaces will be irrigated; in the same way, in Dózsakert district, cisterns are also set up in the area of Sétő utca in order to enhance the self-sustaining capacity of the created green surface. Water surfaces and the necessary public utility changes are being developed in both the Dózsakerti and the New Town areas to mitigate the impact of the urban climate, and a camera system will be set up in both parts of the city in order to increase public safety and protect the renovated areas. In addition to infrastructure developments, soft project elements are implemented in the form of programmes/actions. An environmental awareness-raising campaign, called “Green Tatabánya”, is being implemented (the aim is to provide the public with practical information and knowledge on environmentally conscious solutions such as energy efficiency, energy saving, renewable energy production, waste recovery, green waste management, water management and rainwater, grey water recovery, conscious purchase, and utilisation of community green surfaces). Under the title “We live here” we plan a soft element that develops the image and identity of the settlement, which aims to support the attachment and stay in place of the people living in the city. Soft programs to help prevent crime, road safety and improve public safety are launched in the action area entitled “safe city”, the aim of which is to increase the safety of the city with the active involvement of the inhabitants and prevention programmes. The economic recovery activity is carried out in the context of a related private investment (construction of a service house). As a result of the project, 2 202.74 m² of green space will be created in the square in front of the County Hall, a total of 24 208 m² of green space will be created in the parks surrounding the square, 1 530 m² in the Dózsakerti Walking Street, and 1 470 m² on the sections of Dózsakert Street, Erdész utca Swalking Street to the railway station. All activities of the pro...
