The aim of the project is to create a so-called turbo roundabout and bicycle traffic facility in Kecskemét in the frequented junction between Bem utca — Kuruc körút. The node concerned by the investment is currently controlled by a signal lamp. From the central inner part of Kecskemét the city can be approached in the north-east direction and the main road 44 (Tiszakécske, Békéscsaba, Szolnok) can be approached from the county seat through the junction to be rebuilt. The need for the planned development is justified by the fact that the operation of the current node during peak periods is characterised by very significant congestion — several Saxons in length — which makes it particularly dangerous for accidents in its current state. By creating the roundabout, the current intersection will be safer, fewer accidents occur due to the priority of the orbital and the speed-reducing effect of the use of the Central Island. With lower speeds, the permeability of the node increases and fewer conflict points occur. It is also important that, in addition to a more continuous traffic flow, environmental damage, noise and air pollution, as well as average time loss and average transport costs are also reduced from an economic point of view. In addition to the roundabout, there is a separated walking and cycling path, which helps to improve the conditions of cycling, access to public services and jobs, reduce environmental pressures and promote and create conditions for healthy lifestyles.
