Supporting the need for the project, antecedents It has already been defined in the city’s Integrated Urban Development Strategy that it is necessary to renew physical spaces that accommodate the communities of the city, provide space for their cultural and other activities, and community development is necessary to achieve urban development goals, which combine development from other TOP sources as a complement to the “Green City” programme. Margit Island currently has a sports park, which is often used by city dwellers, but other parts of the island do not have recreational or community functions or areas. Margaret Island, as the “green heart” of the city of Jászberény, is currently underused and only serves as a venue for events organised a few times a year. Preparation of the project We have a concept plan for planned infrastructure investments at the time of submission of the application, which includes a short technical description of the planned interventions, as well as an estimate of the cost of the planned infrastructure. We have a planning contract for the preparation of the permit plan documentation required for the investment. The authorisation procedure is likely to take place at the time of implementation of the project. Following the implementation of the project, our goal is to make the Margaret Island in the centre of the city a popular community space for the entire population of the settlement. To achieve this, we will ensure the installation of new functions and easier interoperability between the island and cultural spaces. Margaret Island is located in the centre of the city of Jászberény as the “green heart” of the city, it is extremely popular for its inhabitants. The island with its many green surfaces and foliage trees and its surroundings are well suited for organising community and cultural activities. The planned intervention will include four new community functions for Margaret Island: 1. installation of new playing elements, which is a niche in the city centre, 2. expansion of the existing fitness park with dynamic elements, 3. construction of a footbridge between Margaret Island and the Open-air stage, linking the green island to the well-functioning cultural space, the construction of a 4th walking walkway that ensures access to the footbridge and the perimeter of the angle. In addition, one of the most important elements of the investment is the renovation of the road pavement of Riszner promenade. The promenade plays a central role in the accessibility of Margaret Island, the Open Air Stage and the Captain’s Garden. Technical and professional results and their maintenance Based on the Guide for Applicants, at least 1 eligible activity must be carried out during the development process. Along the main activity — Zagyva — the development of community and cultural functions within the activity will be developed as a self-supported activity in urban active recreation green areas (external gymnastics, playground).
