The aim of the development is to: The development of the world heritage sites into a thematic road for tourist purposes, based on the unique universal values of the sites, with the creation of modern presentation tools and attractions for the needs of the target groups, in order to win the World Heritage Label. The development of the project will have a positive impact on the region’s current tourist service providers. Investments in the three locations target several visitor segments. In view of this, a significant increase in the number of guests is expected not only in the locations affected by the development, but also in other parts of Limes in Budapest and Hungary, as the project would like to emphasise the development of the cultural route throughout Hungary. As a result, not only the subsidised sites, but also the service providers in the district will have the opportunity to boost and develop their traffic. The project contributes to the preservation of the built and cultural heritage, to the understanding of the entire LIMES as a thematic area and to the preservation of the characteristics of the Roman limes world heritage site. As a result of the development, the operation will be carried out with the participation of applicants, 10 SMEs and tourist service providers, other local tourism and other organisations, as well as the relevant TDM organisations, through the development of wide-ranging collaborations, which will ensure the multiplier effect of the development through job creation and tourism service providers. Within the framework of the project, the tourist and infrastructure development will be carried out in 3 locations, which will provide a suitable venue for the provision of a wide range of services (revenue-generating) for a worthy demonstration of Roman monuments. Locations: 1. Aquincum Museum area: Sightwalk on Szentendrei út. Within the framework of the project: — the southern part of the pavement section Szentendrei út will be expanded, — a low poller line is being built next to the sidewalk to prevent parking of the cars on the pavement, — after the demolition of the existing asphalt pavements, 3 types of new pavement will be prepared, — the museum parking lot will be refurbished, — two electric vehicle refills will be built, — a new gateway will be built, — the fence of the museum will be renewed, — in front of the museum building a gathering area will be built, — along the pavement along Szentendre Road — next to the ruin area — a visual walk with different elements will be built. The wall, which, as an advertising element, will stop part of the tourist traffic to the Danube Bend and transmit pictorial and textual information about the Roman city to visitors. Phase I will implement the entrance and introduction section of the promenade from 2019-2020. 2. Aquincum Museum area: Aquincum and Pannonian limes exhibition. The development will take place in an existing building of the Aquincum Museum, with a partial internal refurbishment. Within the framework of the project: — a single interactive exhibition space will be created, — the building’s water block will be renewed, — an interactive exhibition will be made in the exhibition space, which will showcase the everyday life of the Roman limes military, — the basic conditions for holding the events will be prepared in the room, — visual elements will be placed in the halls. 3. Military amphitheater. In addition to the military amphitheater, 2 special so-called “plexi” boards are displayed, through which the visitor sees the original contours of the building, the shape of the building, the ancient image of what it looked like in its light. A separate plexicard depicts the later ages of the amphitheater. 4. Enjoyable view of the Hospital Street Camp Gate (Eastern Camp Gate) — Beside the Eastern Camp Gate, special plexi boards (1-2 pieces) are placed, through which the visitor sees the original contours of the building, and can get to know the shape and ancient image of the building. The gate would show the typical fortified gates of the legion camps, their imposing form and the strength of their walls. A selfie point is added to the reconstruction table. We intend to present the elements of the planned tourism network (including the various locations in Budapest) uniformly in marketing communications, the network will have a common image, taking into account the national image of Limes, and we plan joint appearances in both online and offline communication.
