“Developing the infrastructure related to the Budapest Public Bringa system in districts III and XIII”

1) STRATEGIAL COUNTRIES In recent decades, it has been proven that by prioritising the use of individual vehicles, transport needs cannot be met without the deterioration of the quality of life of the city dwellers. Putting sustainable modes of transport at the forefront has been and is the solution all over the world. The share of sustainable modes of transport in Budapest is 65 % and cycling is 2.3 %. The Budapest’s objective in the Balázs Mór Plan is to increase the share of sustainable modes of transport to 80 % and to achieve a 10 % share of cycling by 2030. One of the tools for this is the development of cycling transport. The uptake of cycling is a tool and a result of making cities liveable. The strategies underpinning the application are: Budapest 2030 Long-term urban development concept, Integrated Urban Development Strategy, Balázs Mór Plan. The city’s stated objectives are consistent with the main objective of the call. In order to submit the grant application, the Municipality of Budapest and BKK Zrt. concluded a consortium cooperation agreement. 2) The MOL Bubi Interbringa System is one of Budapest’s most popular, innovative developments in recent years, which has become part of the modern, positive city image. It makes a significant contribution to increasing the sustainable transport supply of inner neighbourhoods. Customers typically use it in combination with other modes of transport, as the public bike system also increases the attractiveness and efficiency of existing public transport and improves its accessibility. In order to increase the efficiency of the system and the number of users, it is necessary to further develop the system in the current service area (by increasing the availability and availability of the service) and beyond, provided that the necessary financial and technical conditions are in place. 3) Project Content — Planned Project Area: the entire area of Margaret Island, and at the same time the northern extension of the service area on both the Pest and Buda sides, to the new Dagály swimming pool and the Flórián Square area, the connection of the relevant major transport hubs and the Árpád Bridge to the system. — Carrying out pedestrian and cycling-friendly modifications on the road network of the project area concerned, including outside the immediate surroundings of the newly planned assembly centres, in order to ensure the proper usability and service level of the network. The technical specifications of the developments are developed taking into account the experience of the operation of the MOL Bubi system over the past 5 years, user feedback and changes in travel habits. — In the course of the cycling-friendly transformation of the road network of the project area, we plan to use the following tools: — Making main roads cycling (self-contained cycling facilities, cycle paths, bicycle lanes) — traffic reduction, speed reduction — Management of conflict points, node corrections, Accessibility — Opening of one-way streets for bi-directional cycling — Establishment of public bicycle supports — Establishment of MOL Bubi assembly stations, making it suitable for later installation 4) Awareness-shaping ACTIVITIES As part of the project, the extended service of MOL Bubi will be further attractive to the target groups through the following activities: — Prior communication of developments (socialisation, involvement of key actors) — Promoting information about the service (education of users and stakeholders) — Communication channel development (campaigns, events, trial promotions, rental promotions, usage promotions, re-activation of existing customers, inclusion of new advertising platforms to promote the service, sales through institutions) We plan the following activities in the framework of the project to promote cycling transport and safe transport: — The implementation of promotional, educational, incentive campaigns, events, motorcycling campaigns to raise a cycling culture; — Preparing information publications, conducting campaigns on changed traffic patterns and/or new rules of road traffic and publishing publications; — Acquisition of awareness-raising tools — Bring to work, bikesuli/Bringa Academy, European Cycling Challenge, Life Way Education Campaigns (e.g.: schoolchildren, preschoolers, drivers, cyclists, etc.); — The implementation of the campaign(s) for drivers to call together on cultural transport. Taking into account the climate change mitigation and adaptation potential of planned cycling-friendly infrastructure developments, it can be concluded that the facilities and development results of the project are resilient to climate change and natural disasters. The implementation or its results are not endangered by extreme weather conditions. Development is not a flood risk
