The project concerns a new subsidy scheme, the VIA. This is a subsidy scheme for SMEs in the north of the Netherlands, which allows for a subsidy for innovative projects. An SME can receive a subsidy for the development of new products, processes and services. In addition, a grant is possible for thematerial costs of a prototype. Projects involving at least two SMEs working together are further stimulated by a higher subsidy rate. A separate grant budget is available for projects contributing to a low carbon economy. In this way, it is facilitated in such an accessible regional grant instrument that can accelerate the innovative ambitions of SMEs and contribute to the societal challenges that Northern Netherlands focuses on.
