The aim of this project is to chemically recycle various waste polyester feedstocks in a pilot plant with an innovative process to achieve 100 % clean and recycled material with almost the same qualities and properties as virgin polyester. The depolymerised, purified and decoloured material, which can be mixed with Vigin PET as well as rPET from mechanical recycling and possibly biobased monomers, will be used by the consortium partners as a raw material for the production of polyester specialties for specific target markets. This ERDF valorisation project provides a necessary insight into the operation of the continuous litigation technology on a pilot production scale of 20 kg/h. Multiple feedstocks in the pilot plant will be tested for the possibility of chemical recycling per type. The project results in the design of a scalable plant for chemical recycling. This future installation will make a major contribution to achieving a complete circular chain solution, thus providing a solution for the current difficult to recycle polyester waste and further reducing dependence on virgin material in the chain.
