Business Development Checks Gotland

According to the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth’s survey “Enterprises’ conditions and reality 2020”, Gotland companies have a lower willingness to grow 60 % than the average in the Kingdom of Sweden. The willingness to grow in Gotland companies therefore needs to be stimulated. The recently adopted Regional Development Strategy for Gotland has identified the following challenges for the Gotland economy. — More companies and more growing companies with more employees are needed, not least to strengthen the fiscal power. — Gotland is a distinct market with limited purchasing power, companies that want to grow need to reach markets nationally and internationally. This project will help to address the above challenges by granting business development vouchers to Gotland companies. Companies will be able to apply for support in the areas of innovation, digitalisation, internationalisation and sustainable transition. Business development vouchers will be offered to women, men, domestic and foreign born, who run small and medium-sized enterprises in the region and want to increase their growth. Projects estimate to grant approximately 65 separate business development vouchers of an average amount of approximately SEK 150,000 to companies on Gotland. Business development vouchers are expected to contribute to increased growth and competitiveness for participating companies. In the longer term, participating companies are expected to increase their turnover and the number of employees, which in turn contributes to increasing the fiscal power of Gotland.
