Growing tourism — Post Corona

The tourism industry in Kalmar County is one of the heavy industries in the county and is part of Region Kalmar County’s smart specialisation. Until 2019, the industry has experienced good growth but now needs help in the transition and for a sustainable recovery after the Corona pandemic. The project will contribute to a reconversion in the hospitality industry in Kalmar County by: work with the implementation of TEMATIAL TRANSPORTS, workshops and seminars, produce ANALYSER and documentation, implement BFFER AND product development efforts, work with FOU-INSATSER, and extend the INTERNATIONAL cooperation. In total, it is estimated that 80 hospitality companies in Kalmar County have started their recovery journey with the help of activities in the project. After the end of the project, tourism companies who have requested help with a sustainable transition will have improved their conditions for development and growth, and will be better equipped after the Corona pandemic. Project actions for hospitality companies will contribute to increased knowledge of more efficient use and impact in the exploitation of natural resources, how digitalisation increases productivity. This creates the conditions for increased investment in facilities, marketing and personnel. The number of visitors is expected to increase as quality travel reasons and sustainable natural and cultural products have been developed. Project management will consciously work towards increased gender equality in all activities during the project.
