Avans Hogeschool is in a movement towards self-organisation. With teams as building blocks of the organisation and responsibilities and powers as low as possible in the organisation. That’s why we as the Marketing, Communication and Student Affairs Service (DMCS) have been looking for a tool that will help us achieve results by leveraging even more and better the individual strength of employees and synergies within and between teams. That’s what we found at ‘Punt of Inspiration’ that specialises in shaping work from passion by putting talents/drivers of employees at the heart. What does this mean? We want to offer as many employees as possible to participate in an individual talent scan. During the talent scan, all personal drivers and professional growth opportunities are made visible. Then we connect the talent by sharing with each group of up to 8 participants what drives everyone as a human being and how this is reflected in the work. This is explicitly about promoting an open culture in which people are highlighted behind the ‘officer’. From the talent scan it is also discussed with each other how talents can be used in their own team or elsewhere within the service. As a result, we see that more connections within and between teams are created by the form of work we use in individual conversations, group and team sessions and in which everyone becomes (more) aware of his/her own qualities and the qualities of the other. We want to share the talent cards of all employees and we will, among other things, set up an inspiration space for meeting to keep the conversation about ‘working from passion’ and collective responsibility for the business result — and to be proud of shared successes — vivid.
