Leiden integration is successful partly through the use of ESF Social Innovation. With these European resources, the municipality of Leiden is able to guide status holders who establish themselves in the Leiden region as optimally as possible to the labour market, education and/or social participation. During the implementation we found that it is important to properly inform status holders so that the expectations of status holders are in line with the possibilities in the Netherlands. It is not enough to inform and flood people with information alone. More important is to guide people in a learning process in which there is room to acquire new knowledge and translate it into one’s own situation. The new project starts on 1 January 2019 and runs for two years. The ESF grant is used for the substantive development of the programme and for the development of training materials. The products are made available to other municipalities.
