The Sportbedrijf Oosterhout is responsible for the operation, management and maintenance of the indoor and outdoor sports facilities of the municipality of Oosterhout. This includes Recreatieoord De Warande, the sports halls Arkendonk and Oosterheide, seven gyms and seven sports parks. The indoor swimming pool of De Warande includes a 50 m sports pool, a 25 m instruction pool and a target pool. The organisation also facilitates swimming lessons, sports education and exercise for the elderly. The Sports Company’s mission is to give residents and visitors of the municipality the opportunity to practice their favourite sport. This is achieved by being proactive and responsive to opportunities, without losing sight of the (intended) customers. The employees of the Sportbedrijf Oosterhout ensure that other people can exercise and recreate on a daily basis. This means that they often have to perform their work in a warm climate with high humidity. In addition, employees are increasingly confronted with (sexual) harassment and nuisance from hanging young people, which leads, where appropriate, to stress among employees. Employees also have physical tasks, which cannot always be performed up to retirement age. However, the possibilities for internal flow within the Sports Company are limited. By involving the employees in the research into sustainable employability, the unit management aims to gain insight into the measures it can take to increase the sustainable employability of its employees. In addition to the working conditions, it also looks at how employees can be supported in their career development. More specifically, it focuses on the measures that can help to facilitate the flow of employees within the municipal organisation.
