On 26 February 2018, the municipality of Rotterdam submitted its second tranche of ESF application for an Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) for the National Programme Rotterdam South (NPRZ) and Stadshavens. The application is an important step in the implementation of the JTI involving both ERDF and ESF. It ensures the allocation of the ESF budget for the next 3 years. The ESF part of the JTI benefits jobseekers in Rotterdam South and Stadshaven area. The municipality of Rotterdam is advised for its commitment by an urban advisory committee. Activities will focus on improving the match between what employers ask and what jobseekers have to offer. Although we are talking about improving workers’ skills, work-demand-oriented activities are mainly being carried out in order to help the jobseeker in South to find a job as soon as possible. As the ERDF’s involvement in the JTI focuses in particular on the labour potential and the demand of employers, a lot of synergies can be expected here.
