Municipality of Almere

Within the AMR Flevoland, the active inclusion of PrO/vso pupils is promoted by investing in a comprehensive chain approach and active guidance (to work). In Almere, this ambition is reflected in the framework paper ‘Closing Approach to Youth 2013-2018, a springboard to work’, in which the policy approach is summarised in 4 key words: “sustainable, integral, activating and realistic”. A similar approach is applied within the other municipalities within the AMR Flevoland. In the end, however, job management of vulnerable young people starts with good education in line with labour market demand. The municipality of Almere wants to use the ESF subsidy to structurally improve the labour management of PrO/VSO pupils and to involve professional practice as much and as early as possible in education. During the transition phase, schools invest extra in the job management by: • Labour and business simulation. Professional practice is involved in different ways in education. In addition to the individual external internship guidance and coaching, schools organise external group placements, practical assignments are carried out (sometimes in the form of apprentices) and education takes place at external (practice) locations or provided by external practitioners. The cooperation between Yanmar Europe BV. and PrO Almere is a good example of this. Within Yanmar, about 8 students of PrO Almere run their own department in the warehouse every day. Students can learn in a safe setting what is working with the daily and pedagogical guidance of their own teacher. • (industry)certifying education. Although practical education and VSO are not completed by a nationally recognised diploma, schools are increasingly investing in certifying education. In addition to certifying industry-oriented training, students in the AMR Flevoland can complete their school careers with a Start-ready diploma (labour) or an Entrance Diploma (additional education).
