The strategic labour market challenge in South Limburg for the coming years lies in bridging the skills gap in the labour market. There is a demand for suitably qualified workers while large numbers of citizens are not actively involved in the labour market. At the social level, South Limburg therefore faces the challenge of significantly improving the active participation of citizens in the labour market. Characteristic of South Limburg is that still too many people cannot make this connection. In the fight against youth unemployment and the labour market management of people away from the labour market, the AMR-ZL intends to continue along the path in the coming years. The 2017-2019 ESF budget available for the AMR-ZL will be used through the central municipality of Heerlen in the three regions of Western Mining Region, Parkstad and Maastricht/Heuvelland. Partly by allowing existing projects to continue and partly by adding new ones. Each of the regions carries out its activities in its own way. The municipality of Heerlen is the applicant and is responsible for the implementation of the project.
