Organisations must be flexible, lean and agile to constantly adapt to changes. Employees are expected to work creatively and problem-solving. More self-management, ownership and power of initiative are a necessity in modern organisations to cope with the increasing complexity. ROC Noorderpoort, organisation for secondary vocational education works towards more self-management of employees on their own development, career and commitment. How can employees make full use of their talents and qualities and continue to develop in their craftsmanship? The aim of the project Talent en Vakmanschap is that employees continue to develop and do their work at the place in the organisation where their qualities and talents are most effective. At the heart of this is the creation of a good, open dialogue between employees and their managers on the commitment and development of their talents and qualities. To this end, we introduce the talent-oriented approach, whereby discussions between employees and their managers are based on their talents and strengths. This requires a different mindset, from both employees and managers. In Talent and Vakmanschap Noorderpoort will start on the basis of an advisory and implementation plan with (maximum) 10 teams who want to implement this new approach. By organising meetings and workshops for both managers and employees, they become aware of the changing role and what that requires of them. Coaching on the job takes place when preparing and conducting talent-oriented development conversations. These 10 teams are monitored. Based on a result analysis, advice is given for extension/deployment to the entire organisation.
