Leeuwarden, as the centre of the labour market region of Friesland, has applied for a European subsidy (ESF) on behalf of all schools of the Secondary Special Education and the Praktijk Education (ESF). In the period October 2014 to October 2016, the schools, together with the Frisian municipalities, will lead a total of around 1,100 pupils who sit in the last school year to work as regular as possible. The schools focus on a combination of internships, professional orientation and industry-oriented training. Together with the municipalities, a follow-up process will be drawn up on a tailor-made basis. This can be a learning job, sheltered work place, subsidised work or a care trajectory after which the municipality can mediate the young person to the labour market. For this approach, the Frisian educational institutions can claim a total of over EUR 1.4 million of ESF grant.
