“Ung i Gävleborg" (Young in Gävleborg), is a project designed to prepare young people, ages 15-29, for the demands of the labor market, offering targeted and specific activities. In order for young people to manage a smooth transition into the labor market, various activities are offered such as apprenticeships, studies, jobs or support in starting a small business. With the aspiration to increase young people’s involvement special attention is aimed towards those without a completed secondary school degree. As the target audience is diverse, participatory individualized plans and activities is key. The participant’s prior experiences and prerequisites such as gender, ethnicity, socio-economy and health are important factors to consider as the project also aims towards questioning stereotypes. “Young in Gävleborg", consists of ten smaller projects, from August 1 2018 to June 30 2019 it will consist of eight smaller projects, highly valuing activities enabling empowerment, support towards disabled, self-awareness and knowledge about society and labor market as well as providing young people with the right tools as they approach the labor market. Project owner is Region Gävleborg, coordinating the ten sub-projects, enabling transferring of know-how and best practices between the ten municipalities taking part in the project.
