The five regions in East Middle Sweden will carry out a joint project focusing on the strategic long-term supply of competence in industry-related industries. Technology and industrial companies has great significance for the Swedish economy and the ability to recruit high technical skills are crucial for growth. As the processes automated and manual processes are replaced by computer-controlled and connected machines become more advanced tasks and the simple fewer. For industrial and technology companies to continue to contribute to employment and wealth, it is very important that there are qualified technical and industrial technical training close by the companies. At the same time, few young people are choosing these courses. A large number of organizations will participate in the project. The project will work with established collaboration platforms, especially Teknikcollege. Region Östergötland is the project owner and five regional projects that will be carried out by Industrikompetens (Östergötland), Mälardalen Industrial Technology Center (Sörmland), Teknikcollege Örebro län / Örebro (Orebro), Jobba in Västerås (Västmanland) and Uppsala Bio (Uppsala). In each region different companies, training providers and other stakeholders are involved in the project. The project will involve the education system all levels - primary, secondary, adult education, polytechnic and college / university. The common end product of the project will be a model for the skills needs assessment and strategic competence supply where the five regional projects contribute to different results that together can effectively contribute to a better match between companies' labor needs and the education system's range. The model will be simple to understand and use for the individual company, but also provide the opportunity to aggregate skills needs up at the industry level. The theme of the project is an cooperation between industry and training providers to secure long-term supply of competence. There will be a continuous learning among the five regional projects and experiences will be disseminated in other regions.
