With this project proposal, the Municipality of Belovo will implement a demonstration project aimed at sustainable management of municipal waste on its territory by implementing measures aimed at preventing their formation. The activities envisaged in the project include treatment only of municipal waste generated on the territory of the municipality of Belovo. For the implementation of the demonstration project, the applicant has successfully identified good practice applied elsewhere in the field of municipal waste management, in particular prevention of their formation, which is in the interest of the target groups and with the potential for subsequent multiplication in other settlements on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. To ensure the implementation of the demonstration project, the applicant envisages to deliver assets (1200 composters) that will support its successful realisation. In addition, the applicant will conduct an information campaign that will promote the results of the project and stimulate a change in people’s behaviour in order to form a zero waste society. For the successful implementation of the project, the applicant has foreseen realistic planning of the whole project cycle, balanced distribution of activities over time, linking them to the goals set, which ensures the achievement of the expected results. Within the framework of the project, the following activities will be implemented: 1) Preparation 2) Implementation of a demonstration project for municipal waste management in the municipality of Belovo 3) Conducting a campaign to promote the results of the project 4) Organisation and management of the project The project implementation is expected to prevent the generation of 420 tonnes of household waste per year. The implementation of the demonstration project will cover 2400 people who will benefit directly from the results of the implemented measures. The dissemination of results from the implementation of the demonstration project is expected to cover at least 4000 persons.
