The project is “demonstrative” and has been developed under the following circumstances: — uses good practice from successfully implemented projects, implemented and completed with results achieved elsewhere, including outside the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, I — provides to carry out in practice, test, evaluate and disseminate actions or approaches from the projects already implemented, which, in the specific context of the project, are new or unknown at the designated place (other than where the good practice has been successfully implemented), where the demonstration project is planned to be implemented (within the boundaries of the respective region/community concerned, within a waste management region or on the whole territory of the Republic of Bulgaria) I — implements practices to reduce the environmental impact through separate collection of municipal waste with priority of collection at source and recycling of separately collected municipal waste, which generally contribute to reducing the amount of municipal waste for landfilling. With a view to building a society with clear awareness of the need to introduce measures protecting the environment, the demonstration project is intended to be implemented in two pre-defined locations (ownership of Kirkovo Municipality). The sites are specially selected to be publicly accessible so that the installations can be used at any time of the day. For its realisation it is envisaged to supply and install an installation for collection and pre-separation of solid household waste — type of vending machine. The installation will serve just over 21,000 residents on the territory of Kirkovo Municipality. It is planned to apply a method of the so-called deposit system, which currently operates on the territory of 7 European countries, including Germany, Sweden, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, the Netherlands, Croatia, etc.
