The main objective of this project is to improve the transport integrity and communication cohesion of the borderland areas (Puńsk, Bakałarzewo and Filipów Municipalities as well as Svietlogorsk Region) through development of the road infrastructure on the both sides of the border. Activities taken within the project will bring many positive effects, such as: improvement of transport accessibility of the borderland areas of Poland and Russia by reconstruction of the road infrastructure; upgrading the level of safety of the borderland population, reduction of the number of accidents and victims of traffic incidents; improvement of the quality of the environment in the borderland and improvement of the acoustic climate in this region. The added value of this project is established cooperation between the bodies from Poland and Russia dealing with road maintenance safety ensurance, which will facilitate taking more complex and coordinated actions. The infrastructure activities planned within the project cover: the reconstruction of the roads with the total length of 10,6 km by Administration of the Municipal Unit Svetlogorsk City; reconstruction of the roads with the total length of 4,2 km in Bakałarzewo Municipality, reconstruction and extension of the roads with the total length of 2,1 km in Filipów Municipality as well as reconstruction of the roads with the total length of 4,9 km in Puńsk Municipality. All together 21.8 km of the roads will be reconstructed. Moreover, there are foreseen several soft actions, such as: conference on the safety of pedestrians as road users, competition regarding safety of cyclists on the roads (including the elements of premedical first aid to injured cyclists) as well as auto-race of retro cars.
