Euro-regional platform to promote competitiveness in the marine-maritime field through the promotion of technology-based companies.

Objectives: The general objective of SHERPA do MAR is to stimulate the creation and consolidation of new knowledge-intensive business activities in the marine-maritime area of the Galicia-North Cooperation Area of Portugal, thereby promoting employment generation and increasing business competitiveness. It has been found that there is no such body in such a significant sector for the economy of the Euroregion. That is why the project itself is configured as an innovative initiative, since it aims to coordinate existing entrepreneurship support resources in the area of cooperation to create a technology-based entrepreneurship network in the marine-maritime sector that promotes both entrepreneurship and intra-entrepreneurship, and improves the competitiveness of existing companies. This initiative will also be supported by the main universities and research centres of the Euroregion that will promote the exploitation of synergies between University-Business, Enterprise-University through knowledge transfer. In addition to the synergies that will be gained from this coordination, the project aims to promote a series of innovative actions throughout its activities to achieve a greater appreciation of this marine-maritime entrepreneurship platform. Activities: — Design of a methodology to increase the probability of survival of entrepreneurship and intra-entrepreneurship projects (Sherpa Journeys). — Establishment of a measurement system associated with the entrepreneurship process to monitor the evolution of entrepreneurship support processes. — Establishing policies aimed at promoting the transfer of technology and knowledge through scientific-technical advisory activities from universities and research centres to entrepreneurs/enterprises. To this end, the project will have not only entrepreneurship support entities, but also the main universities in the Euroregion and their transfer offices. This advice will promote the transfer of knowledge to a sector that shows a wide travel potential since it has not incorporated, throughout its trajectory, significant technological innovations. — Establishment of a structure generating synergies on the knowledge and innovation triangle education/research/entrepreneurship. This triangle is composed of: universities, research centers, institutions and companies, and their mission will be to promote the creation of high value added spin-offs in the marine-maritime world. Results: The main expected results of the project are: — The integration of the beneficiary organisations of the project into a Euroregional Entrepreneurship Platform with a stable technological base, allowing a higher success rate in the phase of market introduction of new business projects and improving the competitiveness of pre-existing companies will have been favoured. — They will have made an approach to the real needs of the sector in the field of technological innovation through the cooperation between the different stackeholders of the Euroregion, related in one way or another to the entrepreneurship in the marine-maritime sector. — A technological platform will have been developed to support the entire SHERPA do MAR entrepreneurship network and that allows to centralise all the information on the entrepreneurship and intra-maritime-marine entrepreneurship in the same tool. — Technologies and knowledge with the greatest transfer potential will have been identified in the main universities and technology centres, and innovative business models will have been defined to help their valorisation. — Needs and initiatives in the sector will have been identified to allow the location of new market niches that will make it possible to increase the competitiveness of companies, both newly created and existing ones. — Establishing an ecosystem of fluid dialogue and feedback between stakeholders during the implementation of the project that remains beyond the duration of the project. —Creation of employment in the Euroregion through the promotion of entrepreneurship as a viable career option. — Increasing the competitiveness of territorial enterprises in the marine-maritime context. — Strengthen the knowledge/innovation triangle formed by the agents responsible for university education, R & D & I entities and the business world. The project will have a positive impact on the result indicator R03 (Variation of the number of companies in the area of cooperation) through two channels: 1.
