Innovative preventive recovery measures in burnt areas

The main objective is the recovery of the environmental and productive functions of the burnt systems, minimising the time needed, reducing soil losses due to erosion and increasing the resilience to new fire episodes. Last October 2017 will be remembered for the tremendous devastation suffered by the Galician mountain and much of Portugal. This fact made clear the need to unite the efforts of both countries to achieve sustainable management of the affected areas and to maintain exchanges of experience in the Iberian field, in addition to enhancing collaboration in the fight against fire, an increasingly serious and pressing problem. Activities: The aim of this project is to create an early warning system against fires to define the most risky locations. Likewise, it is expected to conclude with the design, formulation and elaboration of amendments and organomyneral fertilisers for the recovery of burnt soils that increase fire resistance and their transmission of plants. On the other hand, the use of these amendments and fertilisers in burnt areas will prevent pest attacks on those areas that have not been directly affected by the fire.
