ATMO-Vision’s actions will provide appropriate tools for administrations and institutions in the Upper Rhine region (including local authorities, schools) to further reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. In the first step (listed as “type of action” in the application), energy data and air pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions for the Upper Rhine region are merged on the basis of the available data. A comprehensive and representative cross-border survey on the use of wood firing is planned. The second type of measure concerns the measurement of immission data (particulate matter and NO2) and investigations of the measurement with microsensors. In action type 3, model calculations for the actual state are carried out with the CAMx (new regional model with the possibility to determine the origin of the pollutants) and SIRANE (high spatial resolution model, which captures local stress priorities). In action type 4, root cause analyses are carried out and, based on this, the effects of various measures are calculated across borders. In action type 5, communication is in the foreground. Another focus will be on the development of information materials (e.g. for multipliers (specialists and teachers), templates for local authorities). A charter and its corresponding network will also be developed.
