In order to remain scientifically and economically competitive at world level, beyond excellent minds and ideas, appropriate infrastructures are needed for shared cross-border use in order to conduct cutting-edge research and to innovate. To this end, building on the strengths of the Trinational Metropolitan Region of Upper Rhine (TMO), a new concept in a European context that guarantees the optimal use of existing infrastructures by private and public actors, identifies needs and gaps and presents a solution to how needs can be met cost-effectively and efficiently. The solution will consider setting up a large-scale research infrastructure.
