The project entails concrete measures fort sensitizing, encouraging of German and Dutch SMEs in the project area to develop prototypes of innovative, high tech and intelligent products. Through the cross border transfer of technology, the innovative potential of a great number of German and Dutch SMEs in the project area will be used and their participation to Smart Industry/Industrie 4.0 supported. The project partners communicate about the project through thematic network sessions in close correspondence to regional development agencies in their capacity as collaborative partners. Amongst these agencies are a.o. NOM, Kennispoort Zwolle, Fieldlabs, Regionale Centra voor Technologie on the Dutch side and regional development authorities a.o. in Münster and Münsterland, Grafschaft Bentheim, Landkreis and Stadt Osnabrück, as well as Emsland and Ostfriesland on the German side and other intermediaries. The screening, first contact, and informing of interested SMEs (Module 1), is carried out in first instance by these regional RDAs, and where appropriate, by the project partners themselves. From the Module 2-phase “elaborative discussions” onwards, the project partners’ regional coordinators work together in a cross border project team to facilitate the implementation of individual SME-projects and are responsible for the concrete participation of SMEs to the project. This process follows three subsequent phases: “Conceptualisation” (Module 3), “Feasibility Study” (Module 4) and “Prototype Development” (Module 5). The lead partner bears responsibility to carry out the correct formal and administrative procedures. The Project partners bind Universities (for applied sciences)/R&D institutes but also institutes for professional education in a capacity as external service providers into the project. The project partners’ regional coordinators support the SMEs in their search for appropriate service providers.
