Greening the creative industries: improving policy practices for the European Audiovisual industry

Enhancing Sustainability in Europe's Film and Television Sectors

Overview: The "Greening the Creative Industries" initiative, also known as the Green Screen project, is an Interreg Europe-funded partnership involving eight EU regions. It aims to align the practices of the audiovisual production (AVP) industry with environmental sustainability goals by standardizing green practices and improving regional policies. The project focuses on reducing the carbon footprint of film and television productions across Europe.

Objectives:

  1. Reduce Carbon Emissions: Achieve measurable reductions in the carbon footprint of the AVP industry and its value chain within partner regions.
  2. Improve Regional Policies: Enhance eight regional policies, including six Growth & Jobs programmes, to support the adoption of sustainable practices in the AVP industry.
  3. Promote Sustainable Practices: Encourage the AVP industry to adopt green good practices through improved guidance, tools, and support tailored to the sector.

Key Features:

  • Policy Improvement: During Phase 2, approximately €4 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) will support regional projects designed by partners and stakeholders to instigate or accelerate the AVP industry's adoption of sustainable practices. Keep
