Project is a response to the identified problems of unequal access to the high-quality medical services for mothers and children in the Polish-Lithuanian borderland. It includes the implementation of a pilot cross-border health care programme “Healthy mother and child”, which due to its complexity and innovation should be considered as an added value representing a significant cross-border effect. Programme is targeted to population perceiving an unmet need for health care, including people at risk of poverty and social exclusion and includes activities related to the improvement of infrastructure quality, training courses for medical personnel, academy of health leaders, preventive examinations for women and children as well as project conferences. The overall objective of the project is to develop cooperation of the healthcare institutions of the Polish-Lithuanian borderland and to provide equal opportunities for the access of the improved health services for mother and child, and thus to improve the quality of life in the region. Expected main outputs: 1 preventive programme created, 585 participants of the programme, 2 renovated wards, purchased equipment, 4 training courses organised, 320 laboratory tests performed.
