Raising awareness of floods in the catchment area of Salzach, Inn and Danube (OÖ, Salzburg, Upper Bavaria and Lower Bavaria) among emergency personnel of the fire brigade and young people
In the border region Austria — Bavaria is the catchment area of the Danube with the border rivers Inn and Salzach. Floods have no limits. Flood events require a coordinated, cross-border approach in order to minimise damage and minimise the risk to emergency personnel. In the project, the sectoral knowledge is to be collected and prepared for the fire brigade and the administration equally understandable and up-to-date. By looking beyond the box, there will be a technical “fertilisation” of the project partners. Different instruments for raising awareness have developed and proven themselves in both countries. This is to be built on. Cross media communication will be developed and partially tested as part of this project. A modern, refreshing preparation of the specialist information is intended to enable the acquisition of knowledge for young people in a playful way. Fire brigades are active at all levels. Vigilant fire brigades can prevent the increase in damage potential and human suffering. If necessary, the operational forces will be called to carry out operations in the neighbouring state. For this purpose, the networking of stakeholders in this project is an essential prerequisite for successful concerted action.
